Our story and heritage

Jiemin Primary School began its journey in January 1985 at Yishun Street 71 with 23 classes. In its first year, the school also accommodated pupils from Peixin Primary School and West Hill Primary School. By March 1985, Jiemin was home to 52 classes. In June that year, pupils from Peixin Primary School moved to their new school premises at Yishun Ring Road.

The name Jiemin has its roots in two traditional Chinese schools, Jiegu School and Quanmin Public School, which were located in Bukit Merah before their closure in 1984. The name Jiemin was derived from the names of these two schools, carrying their heritage forward.

Since then, Jiemin Primary School has grown together with the Yishun community. Throughout the years, we have remained committed to providing our pupils with a holistic and meaningful education, supporting them in their learning, character development and pursuit of their interests and talents.

Today, Jiemin Primary School continues to build on this rich heritage as we prepare our Jieminites for the future. Guided by our vision of Global Learners, Discerning Citizens, we strive to provide meaningful learning experiences and a caring and supportive environment where every Jieminite can learn, grow and contribute.
