Teaching and Learning at Jiemin
At Jiemin Primary School, learning is about more than acquiring knowledge. Guided by our vision of Global Learners, Discerning Citizens, we nurture Jieminites to become lifelong learners and critical thinkers, as well as concerned citizens who are anchored in values and contribute to their family, community and nation.
We develop the whole child across the cognitive, socio-emotional, physical and aesthetic domains, grounded in strong ethics and values.
How Jieminites Learn
Our teaching and learning is guided by four key pedagogies:
Differentiated Learning
Learning that meets different needs
Every student learns differently. Teachers provide appropriate support and challenge so that students can learn and progress from where they are.
Inquiry-Based Learning
Learning through questioning and discovery
Students are encouraged to be curious, ask questions, explore ideas and find solutions. This helps them become active learners and critical thinkers.
Collaborative Learning
Learning with and from others
Students learn through meaningful interaction with their peers. By sharing ideas, solving problems and creating together, they develop their understanding as well as communication and collaboration skills.
Feedback-Informed Learning
Learning through feedback and reflection
Students receive meaningful feedback to understand what they are doing well and how they can improve. They are also encouraged to reflect on their learning and take greater ownership of their progress.
Enabling Meaningful Learning
These four pedagogies are supported by a Culture of Care and an ICT-enabled Learning Environment.
A Culture of Care creates a safe and supportive environment where students feel valued, confident to participate and ready to learn. Technology is used purposefully to make learning more active, engaging and responsive to students' needs.
Together, these approaches help us create meaningful learning experiences that nurture hearts and minds and prepare every Jieminite to learn, grow and contribute in an ever-changing world.
