The Art Club is a vibrant community where students of all skill levels can come together to experiment with different mediums, learn new techniques, and express themselves through visual arts.
Our Purpose
The Jiemin Primary School Art Club nurtures creative, confident young artists. The club provides a dedicated platform for students to exhibit their works, celebrate their creativity, and build pride in their achievements.
What We Learn
Students gain hands-on technical skills and exposure across a rich variety of art forms, ranging from traditional techniques like batik and Chinese brush painting to pottery, sculpture, and digital media. Beyond mastering physical tools and creation, members learn the fundamentals of visual aesthetics and art appreciation. Through guided discussions, students learn to articulate their creative choices, analyze visual techniques, and thoughtfully talk about their own and others' artworks.
Growing Our 21st Century Competencies
Through diverse art projects, students sharpen critical and adaptive thinking by experimenting with new techniques, problem-solving visual challenges, and adapting when unexpected mistakes happen. Additionally, the various platforms for showcases give members dedicated opportunities to present their creations publicly. Talking about their artwork to an audience helps them hone their communication skills, build strong self-expression, and develop personal confidence in sharing their unique voices with others.
The CCA Experience
The Art Club offers a vibrant, hands-on learning journey where students explore diverse mediums, from traditional batik and Chinese brush painting to pottery, sculpture, and digital media. Members regularly participate in multiple school-based exhibitions and represent Jiemin Primary in national events like the Singapore Youth Festival (SYF) Art Exhibition. Through art-sharing sessions and public displays, students present their creative processes and explain their artworks to peers, teachers, and parents. Collaborative group projects also foster teamwork, camaraderie, and shared pride in visual expression.
