Learning For Life Programme - Aesthetics Alive!
Through the LLP Aesthetics Alive!, Jieminites discover the joy of making music, creating and performing together—growing into confident, expressive and resilient individuals with a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
At Jiemin Primary School, the arts are a journey of self-discovery. Through Aesthetics Alive!, students develop confidence, creativity and self-expression. Music-making and the performing arts nurture technical skills, communication and collaboration, while fostering a strong sense of belonging and pride. We empower every Jieminite to become a thoughtful, passionate contributor to the community.
Our Learning Approach
The programmes in Aesthetics Alive are hands-on, progressive, and meaningful. Students learn by doing —playing different musical instruments, performing for their peers, and creating digital music using technology.
Students are encouraged to make their own musical decisions, choose their own pace, and take ownership of their learning journey. Collaboration is at the heart of many activities, as students regularly make music together in ensembles, learning how to listen, communicate, and support one another. They also learn to give and receive feedback from their peers, building maturity and self-awareness along the way.
Beyond musical skills, Aesthetics Alive nurtures important dispositions that shape students holistically — building confidence through performances, creativity through songwriting, and a sense of pride in Singapore's culture and heritage. Every experience is designed to develop students not just as skilled musicians or performers, but as confident, expressive, and resilient individuals.
Making Music Together
In the early years, students play the handbells and Angklung as part of an ensemble, developing confidence, teamwork, and a love for making music together. Every individual contribution matters, and students learn early on the joy and responsibility of creating something beautiful as a group.
Exploring Creativity
The STOMP programme takes the students’ learning further, where students explore body percussion and choreograph their own routines, discovering that music can be created anywhere. Students are given creative ownership over their learning, building creativity, cooperation, and self-discipline along the way.
Performing with Confidence
Through the Show Choir programme, students combine singing, movement, and expression, learning what it truly means to perform with confidence and poise on stage. Together, these experiences nurture creativity, build character, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts that students carry with them long after they leave Jiemin Primary School.
Empowering Students Through Music and Performance
Teachers pay close attention to each child's progress, and activities are thoughtfully designed so that students can participate and succeed at their own level, ensuring that every Jieminite feels included, valued, and capable of achieving something meaningful through the arts.
Nurturing Talent and Inspiring Growth
Students with keen interest or natural talent in music and performance are encouraged to go further, taking on greater challenges that push their boundaries. From extending their learning through more complex instruments to showcasing their talents through performances. Every opportunity is designed to stretch their potential, build resilience, and deepen their passion for the arts.
