Our Purpose
Dance Experience introduces students to the joy of dance while helping them build a strong foundation in basic dance skills, discipline and movement. Through regular training, students learn what to expect in a structured dance environment while developing confidence, coordination and an appreciation for performing. Most importantly, we hope students enjoy the experience, grow through practice and discover an interest in dance.
What We Learn
During each session, students take part in warm-ups, revise previously learnt dance steps and learn new movements and routines. Through repeated practice, they develop coordination, rhythm, body awareness and the discipline needed to remember and refine their movements.
Growing Our 21st Century Competencies
Dance provides many opportunities for students to develop communication and collaboration skills. When preparing for a performance, students learn to listen to instructions, support one another and work together so that the group can perform confidently and cohesively. They also develop resilience and self-management as they practise challenging steps, respond to feedback and work towards improvement.
The CCA Experience
Students can look forward to learning and performing dance routines together, including an opportunity to perform during the school’s Teachers’ Day Celebration. They will also experience the school’s three dance CCAs — Modern Dance, Chinese Dance and Malay Dance — through dedicated exposure sessions.
Dance Experience serves as a foundation and pre-requisite for students who wish to join one of these three dance CCAs when they progress to Primary 4.
