Guzheng Ensemble

Our Purpose

The Guzheng Ensemble aims to nurture students' musical talents and foster an appreciation for Chinese traditional music. Through daily practices and performance opportunities, students develop confidence, teamwork and resilience while deepening their understanding of Chinese culture.

What We Learn

Students develop their guzheng playing techniques, music reading skills, rhythmic accuracy, and ensemble performance abilities. Through regular practice and performance opportunities, they cultivate perseverance and a collaborative spirit while fostering an appreciation for Chinese traditional music and culture.

Growing Our 21st Century Competencies

Beyond developing musical proficiency, the Guzheng Ensemble provides authentic opportunities for students to cultivate 21st Century Competencies. Through collaborative rehearsals and performances, students strengthen their communication and teamwork skills, think critically as they interpret and refine musical pieces, and take ownership of their learning through regular practice and reflection. Participation in school and external performances also nurtures confidence, resilience, cultural appreciation, and a sense of responsibility, empowering students to grow into confident, self-directed, and caring individuals.

The CCA Experience

Through various performance experiences, students apply the skills they have developed during training. The Guzheng Ensemble has performed at the Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation and school-based events such as Chinese New Year celebrations, National Day celebrations and the Annual Prize Presentation Ceremony.
