Character and Citizenship Education
Shaping students of character who are ready to contribute to Singapore and the world.
At Jiemin Primary School, Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) is at the heart of Nurturing Hearts, Nurturing Minds. We nurture our Jieminites to become Global Learners and Discerning Citizens who are grounded in our school values of Resilience, Responsibility, Respect, Humility and Care.
Through meaningful experiences in school and the community, students learn to understand themselves and others, make responsible choices, develop a sense of belonging to Singapore, and contribute positively to the world around them.
Our learning approach
Character is developed through both intentional learning and everyday experiences. Through CCE lessons, discussions, reflection and authentic opportunities to practise values, students develop social-emotional competencies and learn to make thoughtful and responsible decisions.
Learning extends beyond the classroom through experiential learning, National Education, Values in Action and opportunities to lead and serve. These experiences allow students to put values into practice and grow in empathy, confidence and civic-mindedness.
Signature learning experiences

Values in Action (VIA)
Students learn that they can make a positive difference to their home, school, community and environment. Guided by Jiemin's Awareness–Action–Advocacy approach, students progress from understanding issues that matter, to taking meaningful action, and eventually inspiring others to make a difference.

National Education
Through commemorative events such as Total Defence Day, International Friendship Day, Racial Harmony Day and National Day, students deepen their understanding of Singapore and what it means to be a citizen. Experiences such as the Primary 5 NE Show further strengthen students' appreciation of our heritage, diversity and shared identity.

Cohort Learning Journeys
Students explore Singapore's arts, culture and heritage through learning journeys to places of significance. These authentic experiences bring classroom learning to life while deepening students' understanding of their identity, community and nation.
Programme for Active Learning (PAL)
Our Primary 1 and Primary 2 students learn through fun and experiential activities across Sports and Games, Outdoor Education, Visual Arts and Performing Arts. Through PAL, students discover new interests while developing confidence, teamwork, social-emotional competencies and positive relationships with others.
Growing hearts, inspiring action
Ultimately, we want our Jieminites to understand that good character is demonstrated through their everyday choices and actions. By learning about themselves, caring for others and contributing to their community and nation, our students grow to become responsible citizens who are ready to shape a better future for Singapore.
