Mathematics
Explore how our Mathematics programme nurtures keen, independent learners who can apply maths in everyday life.

At Jiemin Primary School, we aim to nurture lifelong learners and confident problem solvers who are curious, competent and independent in their learning of Mathematics. We believe that every child can succeed in Mathematics and develop the confidence to apply mathematical thinking in school and in everyday life.
Our learning approach
Our Mathematics lessons are designed to build a strong foundation in mathematical concepts while developing students' confidence in solving problems. Through engaging and meaningful learning experiences, students learn to reason, communicate their thinking and apply Mathematics in authentic contexts.
Learning begins with hands-on exploration using concrete materials before progressing to visual representations and abstract mathematical ideas. This helps students develop a deep understanding of concepts rather than simply memorising procedures. Lessons also encourage students to ask questions, discuss ideas and learn collaboratively, making Mathematics both meaningful and enjoyable.
Signature learning experiences

Activity-Based Learning
Students learn Mathematics through hands-on activities, games and real-life materials that help them explore concepts, make connections and deepen their understanding. These experiences spark curiosity, build confidence and develop a positive attitude towards learning Mathematics.

Mathematics Trails
Our Primary 1 to Primary 3 students participate in annual Mathematics Trails, where they solve mathematical challenges around the school in authentic, real-world settings. Working collaboratively, students apply their learning while strengthening their communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Fun Math Days
Primary 4 and Primary 5 students participate in Fun Math Days, where mathematical games, puzzles and hands-on activities reinforce classroom learning in an engaging way. These experiences encourage critical thinking, teamwork and a greater appreciation for Mathematics.
Supporting every learner
Every child learns differently. Our teachers provide appropriate support and challenge to meet students' diverse learning needs, helping every learner build confidence, make progress and experience success in Mathematics.
Stretching our learners
Students with a strong interest and aptitude in Mathematics are provided with enrichment opportunities that deepen their understanding, extend their thinking and allow them to further develop their mathematical potential.
